**"Montagu Cares?" A Closer Look at Boland Security’s Actions Against Homeless Kids**
Montagu—a town known for its beautiful landscapes, historic charm, and a community ethos proudly proclaimed as “Montagu Cares.” But behind the quaint storefronts and scenic mountains, something troubling is happening.
Recently, reports have surfaced that Boland Security is using pepper spray on homeless kids in our community. Yes, you read that right. Kids. Homeless. Being pepper-sprayed.
It’s hard to reconcile this action with the idea that “Montagu Cares.” Are these children not part of our community? Are they not deserving of protection, support, and basic human dignity?
Pepper spray isn’t just uncomfortable; it’s dangerous. Especially when used on children, it’s a weapon that causes extreme pain and can lead to serious health complications. Should this really be our response to young people who are struggling and vulnerable?
What if, instead of aggression, we took steps toward real care? What if local businesses, residents, and authorities worked together to find solutions—safe shelter, food programs, education, and mental health support?
If Montagu truly cares, we can’t look away. It’s time to ask hard questions: Are we willing to face the reality of those who need us most? Are we comfortable with the methods used in our name?
Because real care doesn’t look like pepper spray.
